Summer bags...

I've needed a new bag for a while and finally have some money to spend on one.

After much deliberating on what type of bag I wanted I saw this one in TK Maxx and loved it! I have another little bag like this which I used to take on nights out so I thought this one would go very well with it.

It's not the normal type of bag I'd go for, it's rather large and I won't be able to carry it with the strap across my body because of this, however since I've got a car now, I don't need to walk for distances carrying a bag so this shouldn't be a problem. It's got quite a few pockets and compartments in it so I'm hoping this stops stuff from getting lost in it too easily ;)

I've had this bag for a couple of days now and so far I like it, however because it's so big I can fit lots of stuff in it. Ok, that doesn't sound like a bad thing, but the reason I normally have small bags is that if I can I will put loads of pointless stuff in it and make it weight a ton!

For £24.99 it wasn't a bad buy and I'm happy with it. I was participially happy when I found the extra strap inside meaning I don't have to use the smaller ones if I don't want :)

MUA is BUFF!

You know I said that I would report back when I had more of those Out There plumping lip glosses? Well the Superdrug in the Bullring (Birmingham) has all the latest MUA products so I got a good chance to look at all these lip glosses in person.
Some looked a bit naff if I'm honest. They're not all the cream/matte finish, some have shimmer in them, but the one I went for wasn't a shimmer, rather it has the same finish as the other one I have.

This one is a more natural colour. For me, it's one of those 'my lips but better' colours, however it still has the same sort of pigmentation and feel that the other colour I  have has.

For some reason this image will not flip, but you can see what I mean. It feels like a lip balm, but give nice colour which lasts.
I don't think the pigmentation is as good as Shocking Pink, however it's still pretty good and I love this for everyday wear.

I must point out that the colour of the gloss is different to what it appears on the tube. The colour comes off much warmer toned to what it looks to be at first, which was quite disappointing. I'm not sure why this is, whether it's a tint in the plastic or what, but I've only noticed it with this shade so far.

Either way, I like these glosses and want to try more. I'm planning another trip up to Birmingham at some point as I like it there and it's not too hard to drive up, so I will probably be doing a haul from the Bullring at some point ;)

Blogs I'm reading

I don't do these often, but I feel like it today. These are the blogs I've been reading the last few weeks.
Some of them have quite a few followers and others are like myself, fewer followers. Either way, I like them all and without people spreading the word no one will ever know about us :)

MissBudgetBeauty
I started watching her Youtube videos when she had under 1000 subscribers. It's been nice watching her YT and blog grow and all her post are interersting and nice to read.

Happyhairdays
This girl is fairly new to blogging, but her blog is about hair and as I'm growing mine out it's nice to have someone else who is doing the same to read. She has fewer followers than me, so go have a look at her blog :)

AffordableTreats
I also found this blog a few days ago, but I can't stop going through the posts. Nice looking blog and about cheap products. I love it!

Baby oil... hair oil?

First I'd like to say that I am aware of peoples concerns about baby oil/mineral oil. I read a lot into it before I tried it for myself. This thread on the Long Hair Community forum is rather interesting if you want to know more.

I have thin, fine hair. It's not completely poker straight, but it's not really wavy and although is has some body it lacks volume. I've tried Coconut oil and Moroccan oil. Moroccan oil is far too heavy for my hair, it just looks greasy not matter how little I use. Coconut oil was looking to be ok in my hair, and I do still use it sometimes, but it's been knocked off my radar by baby oil.

It's light enough that it doesn't feel like I have anything in my hair, but I do feel it moisturising!
To apply it I put one or two drops on my finger tips, rub them lightly together and run them through the ends of my hair just after washing, while it's still wet. When my hair dries there's no residue whatsoever, as there was when I used Coconut oil, but my ends are not dried out and my hair generally feels stronger.

What I am worried about is that this could just be a coating, like when you put Vaseline on your lips. Both produces used petroleum and with Vaseline/petroleum jelly it's not putting moisture in into your lips, it just forms a 'film' or layer over your lips. However if I'm applying the baby oil when my hair is wet the theory is that it's locking the moisture in so it isn't lost.

My hair normally splits very easily, however in the last few weeks I've been noticing fewer and fewer splits which need cutting out (I get rid of them when I spot them). I'm hoping this is to do with the baby oil as I haven't changed anything else, other than cutting out shampoo a bit. I did that last year and didn't notice much in terms of split ends which leads be to believe that baby oil really is helping my hair.

Either way, I will report back when I've been using baby oil for a few months and not weeks and give you a final verdict.

Have you tried baby oil?

Superdrug Colour Effects: My results

I'd just like to point out that I've had Manic Panic Vampire Red in my hair for about 4 washes now. I wanted something to revamp the colour as it washes out. Now logically you would put the Rich Red over the top of a RED hair dye. But nope. I wanted it to become more ginger, so decided the best option would be to up the Honey Blonde on.

The bottle informs me that I should wash my hair, then apply this and leave it for 5-10 minutes. But of course I ignored it. I washed my hair yesterday, so just got it wet and put some conditioner through it today. I don't like to wash my hair more than twice a week. After I was done I applied maybe 1/4 of the bottle to my hair (I have thin, shoulder length hair) and left it for 1 hour. It was meant to be half an hour, but someone was having bath so I had no access to the bath room ;)

                                      Before                                     After

These are my results. They're not huge, but in person I can see that the faded red has lifted slightly and the naturally blonde highlights in my hair have become a bit more prominent. Something I would like to touch upon is the condition. In both these pictures, all I have done is finger comb my hair through. However in the 'after' shot it looks sleeker, shiner! Now I realise that this is only 'skin deep' (or hair deep :p) - as in, it's hasn't done anything other make my hair look good for now - but I like it all the same. I was half expecting for this to dry out my hair, however it would seem that it really is conditioning after all ;)

Verdict? To early to tell. I'll give the Rich Red a go, and probably make a video review as well as I small blog review ;)
Have you tried this stuff and how was your experience?
